In addition to Corporate Governance course, ICSI has announced post membership diploma in Competition law for Company Secretaries!  A member of ICSI who finishes this course can use the descriptive letters DCL (ICSI) after his/her name.  The details of the papers are given below, it shall be completed along with 100 hours of training as prescribed.

Become Corporate Compliance Executives: opportunities for CS Executive Programme passed Company Secretary Students with Training: ICSI

Corporate Compliance Executive (CCE) Certificate – ICSI

Students having passed intermediate / Executive Programme of Company Secretary Course by ICSI and has completed training requirements & Professional Development Programmes (PDP) may complete the Course of Corporate Compliance Executive Certificate.  And thereafter apply with fees to ICSI for the certificate and once the certificate issued by ICSI, shall be entitled to use the descriptive letters ‘Corporate Compliance Executive’ (CCE). Though such CCE is not a associate or fellow member of ICSI.

Such person may continue to pursue the regular Company Secretaryship course [ie, Professional Programme] if he/she so desires.

Person having awarded Corporate Compliance Executive Certificate, need to secure Programme Credit Hours (PCH) [ie, shall attend regular seminars & programmes of ICSI].

EXEMPTION FROM FOUNDATION PROGRAMME OF ICSI

1. Graduates in any discipline (like B.Com, B.A, B.B.A) except Fine Arts, irrespective of percentage or division of marks or medium of examination are exempted from passing the Foundation Programme and eligible for direct registration for the CS Executive Programme exams.  Certain non-commerce graduates like B.Sc also are given exemptions but are advised to write CC papers of Foundation Programme.
2. If a person is enrolled or appearing for such examination (as mentioned above), then he may be provisionally enrolled and final certificates to be produced within 6 months of provisional enrolment.
3. On passing Foundation Examination of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICWAI) or Common Proficiency Test (CPT) of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

EXEMPTION FROM INDIVIDUAL PAPERS OF THE EXECUTIVE PROGRAMME EXAMINATION

In pursuance of the powers conferred on it under clause(3) of the regulation 42 of the company Secretaries Regulations, 1982, the Council of the Institute of the Company Secretaries of India has decided that a candidate shall be exempted from the following paper(s) of the Executive Programme examination if he / she possesses the qualification(s) specified against each paper, having secured 50% or more marks in the aggregate (whether in a full time college or though correspondence from a recognised University) and applies for exemption on or before last date for enrolment for the examination paying requisite exemption fee as may be determined by the Council from time to time.

1. General and Commercial Laws:

M.A / M.B.A. (Corporate Secretaryship) or Degree in Law (three years or five years integrated LL.B or B.L) from a recognized University / Institute either constituted under an Act of Parliament or approved by AICTE.

2. Company Accounts, Cost and Management Accounts:

M.A. (Corporate Secretaryship) / M.Com / M.B.A (with Advanced Accountancy as one of the subjects at graduation / post – graduation level and with full paper in Cost Accounting / Management Account / Financial Management at M.A. (Corporate Secretaryship) / M.Com / M.B.A. level having secured 50% marks in the subject concerned) from a recognized University / Institute either constituted under an Act of Parliament or approved by AICTE.

3. Tax Laws:

M.A / M.B.A. (Corporate Secretaryship) from a recognized University / Institute either constituted under an Act of Parliament or approved by AICTE.

Update your email id & address to get Student Secretary Magazine

Those students who are having e-mail address may communicate the same to the Student Services Section (giving reference of their name & registration no.) at naveen.kumar@icsi.edu, which will facilitate quick and economic communication from the Institute’s side.  You will start receiving Student Company Secretary in email only if your correct email address is available with ICSI.

PIN CODE is required to be mentioned for quick delivery of the mail. Students may, therefore, check up the computerised mailing address as printed on the ‘Student Company Secretary’ bulletin. In case, it does not carry or carry the wrong PIN CODE number, the same may be intimated immediately quoting student registration number and full postal address with Postal Index Number so that it could be incorporated in the computerised mailing list.

 

CHANGE IN FREQUENCY OF DESPATCH OF STUDENT COMPANY SECRETARY BULLETIN:

As per the existing system, the Student Company Secretary Bulletin is dispatched by post to all active regular students on monthly basis.

Keeping in view the changing times, the Council of the  Institute has decided that the Student Company Secretary Bulletin ( in physical form ) will be sent to the students on bi-monthly basis (once in two months), instead of on monthly basis, w.e.f. January 2011.   However, the academic inputs as is being covered in the Student Company Secretary Bulletin will be uploaded on the website of the  Institute, viz., www.icsi.edu and the same will also be sent through e-mail on monthly basis. With this arrangement, it is expected that the students will get updated contents promptly with the latest academic developments. All students are advised to take a note of it.

Preserve/Lost your Mark sheets as NO more CS Pass Certificates for Foundation & Executive will be issued by ICSI on passing Company Secretary Exams but for Professional Program

Don’t panic after your CS Results this 25th August 2010 onwards! when you don’t receive your Company Secretary Exam pass certificates, ICSI has resolved not to send the same (may be a cost cutting measure or an environment friendly measure) as it serves no purpose. 

 

I have passed CS Executive Program but I have not received my Certificate, where can I approach? Now, you can feel relaxed!!!, ICSI says.

 

The mark statement (mark sheet) hereon will serve as the proof that you have cleared CS.  The first of its kind PASS certificates, you can receive after finishing your CS Final exams. 

 

Have you lost your CS Marksheet???

Again, not to panic.  You have to shell out Rs.50/- + Rs.25/- to ICSI and apply in Application for issue of Duplicate Result-cum-Mark sheet to get a duplicate copy for further reference & usage.

DISCONTINUATION OF ISSUE OF PASS CERTIFICATES  TO FOUNDATION/ EXECUTIVE/INTER PROGRAMME PASS STUDENTS

In accordance with the decision taken by the Council of the Institute recently, it is brought to the notice of  the student community that  henceforth (i.e. from June, 2010 Examination Session onwards),   Pass Certificates will  be issued only to such students who pass Final Course/ Professional Programme. However, Mark Sheets  will continue to be issued to students of  all stages viz. Foundation, Executive/Intermediate and Professional/Final Programmes as per existing practice.

Updated New Company Secretary Training Provisions

1. Applicability: Students enrolled for Company Secretary (CS) course on or after 1^st September 2009.
2. Student Induction Program (SIP): Students shall complete SIP Within 6 months of Registration for CS Executive Programme. SIP is a 7 full days training programme (introduced for the very first time). SIP will be conducted by ICSI's Regional Councils like NIRC, SIRC, EIRC & WIRC and 'A' & 'B' grade Chapters as provided in www.icsi.edu. 3. Executive Development Program (EDP): EDP is the new name of erstwhile Training Orientation Programme (TOP). EDP is a 8 full days (instead of 5 days as earlier) training programme. EDP as a pre-requisite for Training which shall be done after passing CS Executive Programme Exams remains as such. To register for EDP, only physical application shall be made to the nearest ICSI chapter along with a fees of Rs.1,000/
4. Professional Development Program (PDP): PDP is the new name of erstwhile Academic Development Programme (ADP) which remains for the period of 25 hours. PDP's are the lectures, seminars, etc...conducted by ICSI on daily basis or weekend basis or half-day basis and will have PDP hours mentioned in it. PDP's will be counted after completion of Executive Development Programme (EDP) and during the course of CS Training. It shall be completed before applying for ACS Membership.
5. Wholly or Partly with PCS & Company & Firms/Institutions: The existing 15 month Training Programme remains as such. ICSI has specifically mentioned that Students are free to undergo training wholly or partly with Practising Company Secretary or Registered Companies. Further,
   6 (SIX) MONTHS OF 15 MONTHS TRAINING CAN BE DONE WITH FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS/ MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS / LAW FIRMS REGISTERED WITH ICSI.
   
6. RoC/Stock Exchange Training: The 15 day RoC or Specialised Institutions training on completion of 12 months of CS Training remains as such.
7. Management Skills Orientation Programme (MSOP): MSOP, the erstwhile Secretarial Modular Training Programme (SMTP) or Residential Secretarial Modular Training Programme (RSMTP) @ ICSI-CCGRT remains for 15 full days at the ICSI's Regional Councils. MSOP shall be completed after passing CS Professional Programme exams.

The Council of the Institute has approved the following decisions
pertaining to training of the students of the Company Secretaryship
Course.:
A) 15 months training with Law Firms, Consultancy Firms,
Financial Institutions
The Council of the Institute has allowed imparting 15 months
training by Law Firms, Consultancy Firms and Financial
Institutions. Earlier they were allowed to impart training for 6
months only. Further the Council has removed the criteria of
standing, minimum number of partners and fixed assets for
registration of Law Firms and Consultancy Firms and approved the
revised guidelines for registration of Law Firms, Consultancy
Firms, Financial Institutions for imparting 15 months training

B) Removal of requirement of remitting fee of ₹ 50/-with
Apprenticeship Agreement by the Practising Company
Secretaries
The Council has removed the requirement of remitting a fee of
₹ 50/- by the PCS towards registration of apprenticeship training
of the students.
C) 15 days with any one specialised agency:
The Council has also allowed undergoing training of 15 days with
any one specialised agency as prescribed under Regulation 50 (b)
of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982, with the broking
firms/ companies, Law firms, Universities (recognized by UGC),
Merchant Bankers, Mutual Funds, Insurance Companies, SMEs,
Industry Associations/ Chambers of Commerce, all Ministries,
SEBI, IRDA, TRAI, CCI, Courts, Tribunals and other quasi-judicial
bodies

What next after CS exam results August 2009, register for Executive or Professional program & finish NIIT, TOP, ADP, SMTP from ICSI

The results of the CS Foundation Course, Intermediate and Final (Old Syllabus) and Foundation Programme, Intermediate/Executive Programme, and Professional Programme (New Syllabus) examinations of the Company Secretaries held in June, 2009 are scheduled to be declared at 12.00 Noon on 25^th August, 2009 at www.icsi.edu and also try www.icsi.in

Candidates registered upto and including the month of August in a year are eligible for appearing in both the groups of the Executive Programme or all 4 modules of Professional Programme examination held in June of next year. It has been decided to rationalize the criteria for issue of Coaching Completion Certificates (CC) papers vis-à-vis submission of Response Sheets with immediate effect which is as follows [which is even applicable for December 2009 exams].  Keeping in view the above decision, the students are advised to send at least one Response Sheet for each subject to make him/ her eligible for issue of Coaching Completion Certificate. It is further to clarify that he/ she has to secure minimum 40% marks in each subject for issue of Coaching Completion Certificate. [Source]

As every one is aware that one has to submit CC papers on or before August 2009 for being eligible to attend December 2009 CS exam.

Also you are aware of the pilot project of ICSI viz CS CC papers online for CA CWA final students or with 4 years of experience, by sending it in e-mail to ICSI, only for Company Law of Executive Programme

Now, every student of ICSI can submit merely ONE CC PAPER (from 3 of the COMPULSORY test paper given at the end of the ICSI study material) for every subject PROVIDED atleast you secure 40% marks in every subject.

However, students will be at liberty to send maximum response sheets to the Institute and all such response sheets will be evaluated and returned to them for their reference/ guidance.

CS CC papers online for CA CWA final students or with 4 years of experience, by sending it in e-mail to ICSI, only for Company Law of Executive Programme

RESPONSE SHEETS BY E- MAIL

Yes, Company Secretary Institute has recognised Chartered Accountant & Cost Accountant final passed students to submit CC papers online, but for only one subject (Company law), on a PILOT basis.

As the Student Community is well aware, the Institute has always strived to absorb the power of info rmation technology in its day to day activities so that the students are provided with hassle-free and effective services at all times.  In this scenario,  it has been decided to introduce a Pilot Project of E-Response Sheets  wherein  Response Sheets will be accepted from the students through E-Mail as against the conventional method of accepting the same in physical form.  The details are as under : -

 

Eligibility of Students to be covered under Pilot Project	Students of Executive Programme who have either : (i)                  Passed CA/ICWA Final Examinations;   OR (ii)                Having with 4-5 Years of Work Experience
Subject covered under Pilot Project	‘Company Law’ (Code No.224) covered under Module-II of Executive Programme
Process involved	F    Step 1	Click on the link “Students” and then “E-Response Sheets” to download the Word Document containing Question-Cum-Answer Paper.
	F    Step 2	Fill in the Particulars of Student in the Template which is also available in the Word Document.
	F    Step 3	Type the Answers for each Question at the relevant space  in the Word Document.
	F    Step 4	Send the E-Response Sheet to response_cl@icsi.edu
	F    Step 5	While sending the E-Response Sheet by E-Mail, please also attach scanned copy of certificate pertaining to qualification (CA/ICWA) or work experience.

Please note that depending upon the success of  the Pilot Project, this facility will be extended to all the remaining subjects/ stages in a phased manner.  The present system of  submitting the response sheets in physical form will not be affected and will continue as usual.
